Canât Stop Lovin You
Lingering doubt about her silence last night convinces me to grab a coffee with her before work, seeing her beautiful face will calm my uneasy mind. I text her when the Porsche parks in my reserved stall to meet me at High Voltage, the two-block walk in the bright morning sun centering my energy. I enter the crowded shop with anticipation and a wide smile for my girl. My jaw instantly clenches in anger to see my Descent talking with Stone at a small table, unaware Iâm walking towards her engaged body.
âHey, baby,â I greet in an obnoxiously aggressive tone, leaning in for a hot wet kiss of which Iâm fully entitled. Her face burst into embarrassment when our lips part, as though sheâs been caught red-handed.
âHi, Storm,â she says politely, my tall frame hovering over her shifting body.
âDamon was just briefing me on the new corporate donations his foundation received last week. I wasnât expecting to see you.â
Iâve already figured that out, baby.
âIâll walk you to work,â I command, lifting her from the chair and collecting the prepaid drinks.
âThanks for the update, Damon, have a great week.â
âYou too, Descent,â he smiles, longing clear in his coveting eyes.
A dangerous glare shoots his direction as we exit the door, his refusal to back off requiring implementing surveillance. Descent needs protection from the son of a bitch, his continued intrusion in her life unrelenting. My head turns back to my girl when I feel her feet halt and her hands perch on those two sexy hips.
âDid you follow me?â she spits out, neither pleased nor pacified to see me.
âNo, I sent you a text to meet me there. Didnât you get it?â
Her phone retrieves from the knock-off Prada purse, and she breathes a heavy sigh when she reads my message. Perhaps she didnât have time this morning to transfer her bagâs contents into the ten-thousand-dollar Gucci tote I picked out for her.
âIâm sorry for questioning you, youâre all-consuming. The roller coaster of emotions weâve been through is a lot for me to process, especially with the increasing demands from my promotion. Not to mention I wasnât able to wear heels today.â
Her knowing eyeâs smirk dissipates the frustration between us, my protective arm supporting her waist while my lips offer a gentle appreciative kiss.
âWhat can I say? Youâre impossible to resist.â
We continue towards the Imperial Tower, my fingers squeezing hers in reassurance.
âWhat time do you take lunch?â
Itâs a no before Iâve finished the question, her telling eyes unable to hide the truth.
âPlease, Storm, I have to get caught up on work. Iâm still learning this new job, and the girl Iâm replacing goes on maternity leave at the end of the day.â
Tomorrow morning will be my next opportunity to love her sensual body. Not forcing my hand is another compromise I wouldnât have made with any other woman.
âIâll let you be on one condition. Iâve arranged a romantic weekend getaway at a luxury resort, and I want you to be waiting for me at your door tomorrow promptly at eight a.
