Bearing in mind the controversy surrounding Leander and a further accusation that Mr Forth meant to refuse to pay his bets on Leander – an accusation that he most profusely denied had the slightest foundation, claiming that he would cheerfully pay every bet he lost – Mr Forth deemed it judicious to send a lengthy missive to the editors of the morning papers, comprehensively detailing the history of Leander, from the time the Litchwalds had sent him to Michel Grove, until Mr Wood had apparently confirmed him to be three years old.
