Chapter 14

Lisa had gone home and being that Brandi would be in jail Rayne decided not to fight her on this one. It was now early evening and Rayne, Damien and Tori now sat in the Olive Garden

restaurant that was in the middle of Times Square. It was filled to the max with people but thanks to Tori they did not have to wait long. When they’d arrived people were in small groups outside with the beeper devices the restaurant gave to alert people that their tables were ready. The crowd inside was even worse.

Damien had gone to the hostess podium to ask how long the wait would be but Tori smoothed out her shirt and stepped in front of him. Tori smiled, leaning down on the wooden structure the stunned woman holding the menus stood behind. Rayne watched as Tori got ready to pour on the charm that women seemed to find irresistible. All Tori needed to see was a little bit of a glimmer or curiosity and she swooped in for the kill. Tori knew how to make even the straight woman wonder.

It did not surprise Rayne or Damien that they’d been seated after only waiting for a few short minutes. When they were seated they both shook their heads at Tori.

“What?” said Tori innocently, “I know you two are not complaining?”

“No one is complaining so relax”, said Damien, “I’m just warning you to be careful swooning theses little girls.”

“She is twenty five!” Tori said defensively.

“Damn Tori, twenty five?” Rayne asked.

“A damn child like I said.” Damien confirmed.

Tori snorted, “Whatever, she is grown enough.”

“You are such a damn dog Tori.” Damien accused.

“Ruff, Ruff, Ruff”, Tori playfully barked.

Conversation slowly stalled as they snacked on the salad and breadsticks that the Olive Garden was famous for and when their food arrived the only noises were that of the cutlery.

“Tell me that you really didn’t tell this woman that she could stay in your house. Tell me that my information is incorrect.” Tori asked in between bites of her stuffed ravioli breaking the silence.

Rayne looked over at Damien who continued to eat without a glance in her direction. “Your information is correct. She is in a dangerous position and I have the space.”

“What do you know about her? Sounds like a whole bunch of drama to me. She could be crazy.” Tori said.

“But she isn’t crazy, if she was Damien would have told me so.” Rayne shot back.

“She is a good woman I can vouch for that.” Damien said confidently.

Tori was still skeptical, “All I’m saying is that she is already producing drama. I understand you breaking up a domestic dispute. That rouging women up for sport shit doesn’t fly with me either. My concern is you opening up your home to her.”

“I was taken for a loop with that

suggestion.” Damien chimed in.

Rayne loved these two but the answers that they wanted were not fully

understood by her. How the heck was she supposed to explain it to them? She didn’t answer
