I: Since Iâm a citizen I feel I have rights and power too. Because I can do a lot of things, I can go out and cross the border any time I want and also I can help my parents to have their documents and now Iâm trying to help my brothers and I feel I have rights and power regarding immigration. . . .
E: I feel that way, we want to help our people and we feel good supporting our people who really need it because we had the opportunity to leave that country to have better chances, better opportunities and unfortunately there are so many families there and we donât want them to suffer the bad circumstances there. So, if we have the possibility to help, why not?
I: Yes, as she mentioned, I think we have to be involved, I feel that way, we need to help others, if she has the time to do that and, for example, I have a lot of work to do but I can take one hour or two hours to help in the school. Then I can help with that and if Iâm available, I donât watch TV, I decide to do something more useful and also I try to enjoy life with my family, helping people and I think God gave me a lot, more than I ever imagined Iâd have. We donât have anything material, but I think we have a lot and now I feel responsible to help other people. And there is a phrase, âthose who cannot provide for others, cannot provide for themselvesâ (El que no sirve para servir, no sirve para vivir)8 and I feel that way, too.
G: Thatâs good.
I: We need to help the community, it is our responsibility; we need to get involved with the community.
