Our love affair with meat

Over the past 50 years, meat production has more than quadrupled. The world now produces more than 320 million tons of meat every year to meet demand. Livestock have a large environmental impact—not least because they are huge consumers of water. To produce one pound of beef requires 1,799 gallons of water.

Water leaks

A staggering amount of water is lost each day in cities from water leaks—the average household leaks nearly 10,000 gallons of water every year. Think dripping taps, hoses, water that is left running, etc. (Just think of the money we are literally pouring down the drain!) Water leaks from both commercial and residential sources are wasting this precious resource.
