To top it all off, when Jesus resurrects and visits his disciples, he embraces them. He forgives them. He reinstates Peter in John 21. He calms Thomas’ doubts in John 20.

When he should be giving them the middle finger and telling them, “I told you so,” Jesus is instead compassionate, forgiving, and healing to them.

What would it take for an Eight to respond to betrayal like this in this situation?

We’ll discuss more of that in chapter 8.

For now, your homework from this section is to read the Gospel of Luke and notice how often forgiveness is mentioned.

I know forgiveness is hard. I know people are truly undeserving of our forgiveness. But, forgiving others is the path to freedom from our vengeful cycles.
