There was a time when it was my belief that evil was defeated by good. My father was a believer of that. And by all the gods and forces that are, he was a good man. Evil men burned him on a stake as he screamed, flesh melting from his cooking bones. They made me watch.

I see now what the truth is, and so I will tell it. Without dispute evil is defeated by evil and all a good man can hope is that his brand of evil is stronger than that of the foe he must defeat. But still a lesser evil.
