“You could kill someone that way,” Mab said, irate, as if he had intruded on her private boudoir. Which, actually, if you think about it, he had.

He hadn’t thought he was that high. “Shit, Todd, what did you put in that pot, man?”

“I am not a hallucination, if that’s what you’re im-plying,” Mab huffed.

“Yeah, right.”

She grimaced at him, but her face was so small that he couldn’t see the narrowing of her citrus-green eyes or the twist of her mouth. The only thing that gave away how pissed she was, was the tone of her voice.

“Yes. Correct.”

“Well then, what are you?” he asked, figuring whatever he said would probably piss her off even more.

Actually, a question like this would usually have brought out the loathing in Mab, but this was, after all, the boy whose thigh she had
