Balor

I transport us back to my home before she can try and wiggle free from my hold. It’s so quick that she’s finishing her question in another place entirely.

“- you tonight?”

I grab her hips and bend down, so her feet are touching the floor and lift her off my shoulder. When she’s standing and steady, I stand upright, never taking my hands from her soft body. She turns around in my hold taking in her surroundings.

“Where did you take us now?” She asks quirking her eyebrow and crossing her arms over her ample chest, waiting for my reply.

I’m trying to gauge if she’s pissed or scared, but I can’t tell. I don’t know which one I’d rather deal with right now, probably neither. I always hate seeing her upset it always manages to kill a tiny part of me.

“I’ve taken you back to my home.”

“Your home? Like where you live?” She asks, looking around my kitchen with excitement and awe.

“Yes.” I laugh, surprised by her reaction.

“How did we get here? Is transporting your power?”

“It’s just one of the many things I can do Angel.”

She studies me silently and then continues to look around.

“Do you mind if I explore? There’s no dungeon or torture chamber I might get trapped in, is there?” She laughs at her own comment. She’s about to take off out of the kitchen and give herself a tour without waiting for me to tell her it is okay.

“Lucy, wait.” She stops in her tracks and looks over her shoulder at me. “Aren’t you mad at me?”

“About what?” She asks, tilting her head to the side.

“I just brought you here, without asking.”

“Do you want me to be mad?” She turns around fully and asks.

“Of course I don’t. That is the last thing I want. But why are you handling this so well?”

She shrugs her shoulder. “I’m curious about you Balor. Why do you feel more important than anyone else in my life? Is it possible to know after only seconds that I’ve met the one person that will complete my world? What is it about you that makes me want to give you everything?” I don’t have the words she’s looking for because I’m still in shock, my mind reeling from what she just said. She turns and walks out of my kitchen, and I stand there frozen watching her leave.

Walking around the corner, I watch Lucy turn into my library. I follow her and lean against the doorframe watching her explore the thousands of books I have around the room. “You have quite the collection Balor. This must have taken you a long time to collect.”

“Not as long as you may be thinking. I only started collecting these when I got to town.”

“Which was when?” She asks still perusing my selection.

“The day you were born.”

Her eyes snap to mine, and her hand falls from the shelf she was browsing. I enter the library and walk straight to her, pressing her up against the bookcase she’s standing near. “Why my birthday?” She whispers, searching my eyes.
