Step 1: Ensure the stitches are arranged on the needles, so both halves are easily identified. After completing the foot of the sock, at the beginning of a round, knit 1 stitch, Slip Slip Knit (SSK) decrease, knit to the last 3 stitches, Knit 2 Together (K2TOG), knit the remaining stitch.

Step 2: Repeat Step 1 on the second half of the stitches.

Step 3: Knit 2 rounds.

Step 4: Repeat Steps 1-3 until about 6-8 stitches are remaining.

Step 5: Graft the toe closed using the desired method.

Tip #57: While England wasn’t appreciative of Lee’s invention, King Henri IV of France was more than willing to fund the venture. As a result, socks for the lower classes became more readily available.
