Have them pay
Aside from gifting, you could ask your customers, even the very first ones, to invest in some way for the exchange of your product or service. Not only does this give you a physical example of what it feels like to be paid for your side hustle, it also makes sure that the person on the receiving end is invested in what you have to offer. Without a fair exchange for your time and efforts, you still wonât know if your offering is capable of becoming a real business. You donât need to charge the full price upfront if that feels overwhelming. There is a lot to learn from your first few customers, but keep in mind that as you enter the marketplace, you want to be servicing those who are willing and able to invest in what you have to offer. If you canât find anyone, then that is information too. Ask people why they wouldnât, or canât, invest and use that feedback to reflect on what youâve created and perhaps take some time to consider if it might need tweaking. Hereâs a good way to position it: âNormally the price is X but as an introductory offer, Iâm happy to make it Xâ.
