Curtain Length

Now that you have determined curtain width, let’s move on to determining the necessary length of the fabric required. This has a few more variables and considerations than width.

To determine total yardage per curtain panel, you first add the heading and hem allowances to the curtain length. If you have not yet finalized your heading and hem details but are dead set on purchasing your fabric, it’s generally safe to add between 8" and 12" to the total length. This should allow you enough fabric to play with (plus a little extra) and ensure you achieve the look you are going for. If you do, in fact, have the heading and hem styling details finalized, read on to determine your total fabric length. As previously mentioned, measure twice and cut once to prevent fabric waste!
