While at the conference – stay organised, you will be talking to a lot of people, gathering a lot of business cards, receiving a lot of feedback and so on. Make sure you capture all that (in a way that it will make sense after the conference ends and you go back home).

Bring, and wear, sensible shoes!
You may feel like you are betraying your fashion god/dess, but something that feels comfortable will stand you in really good stead. Not many will go as far as wearing crocs, though some may use them when in transit. However, during the day, comfort over extreme fashion should win out every time.
If you are Eva Longoria @EvaLongoria then you may be wearing something more glamorous. However she had a chauffeured car pull up to the back of the stage to collect her after her talk. For the rest of us it makes more sense to not get a blister after day one and be hobbled for the rest of our time at the Web Summit. Especially as it can be a long three days there, covering a lot of ground – even talking to people can be tiring, let alone walking around.
We’re not sure if everyone is a big fan of crocs, but they can be much more comfortable to travel to the event in. Especially if it is in anyway hot. We suggest a handy backpack, not just for the laptop, charger, plug converter, but also for a quick shoe change if needed too! You’ll be glad too at the end of the day to be able to switch back into something more comfortable.
Which do you focus on? The morning, the afternoon or the evening? Maybe don’t try to do them all
It’s hard to be all things to all people. It might just make more sense to decide whether you want to rock the morning, blitz the afternoon or rock the evening. And think carefully about if you’re going to party like it’s …
Some people might laugh about focusing on strategy and not just partying the whole night through. The thing is, the Web Summit is, at the end of the day, a business and tech event. The organisers have created a festival vibe, and a great one at that, but, ultimately, if you are looking to reach hard-nosed investors, they want to be impressed by your intelligence, smarts, and can do attitude. Therefore being, or even looking like you are, completely hungover might not convince the next angel investor you meet to hand over their money to you crazy / amazing business idea.
There is a lot on. Consider having a team, and then dividing things up. Even have an early night sometimes, that way you might get a great one to one with someone really interesting while everyone else is sleeping off the big night in a loud crowded room with too many D list celebrities. We have a team going, who often don’t see each other at all during
