Going back to the source. For Peter, it’s being there on the spot in front of the actual landscapes that an artist painted. For me, it’s tracing an ingredient back to its origins, learning from someone who knows how confit is made or travelling to a village or town renowned for a single ingredient (although our proposed visit to Roqvefort hadn’t exactly been a major success). It’s these background stories that enhance our respect and appreciation, for food or for art. With its promise of both, a day trip to Collioure was a foregone conclusion on our first trip to the region.
