Chapter Twelve

Stupid birds. All that chatter and cooing and just in general being inconsiderate to those of us trying to sleep.

I was stiff. I was cold. I was huddled next to Tripp, who still wore most of his clothes, having freed only what he needed to have sex with me. My butt was bare. My shirt was open and hanging from my shoulders.

Tripp snored lightly on the top of my head. The sky was a rosy pearl color, and but for the birds, everything was still. No breeze ruffled the overhead leaves. No motorboats or Jet Skis marred the surface of the lake.

My panties were still wrapped around my right ankle. My shorts were under the chaise. Who knew what happened to my red sandals?

Something plopped into the water.

I padded barefoot to the railing to peer down at the lake. Only widening ripples in the otherwise still water proved I wasn’t hearing things. In the distance, a mother duck followed by five ducklings drifted, their bodies creating vees in the surface of the lake.

I decided to get a cup of coffee and enjoy the calm before reality.

“Good morning.” Tripp came up behind me and nuzzled my neck, startling me. I hadn’t heard him stir, much less cross the deck. His unshaven chin scraped my skin as he kissed me. His hands cupped my breasts.

And he rubbed his morning erection against my bottom. Given our height difference, this was not an easy task.

“I saw you standing here and had the greatest idea,” he murmured in my ear right before his tongue traced the outer of rim of it. “Good thing I had a condom in my pocket.”

I leaned back into him. All he had to do was touch me, and I was ready for him. “What idea is that?”

“Lean over the railing, like you were a minute ago.” He pinched a nipple.

I was beginning to get an idea of what he wanted. Good thing the deck railing was relatively new, very sturdy, and splinter free.

I’d been premature in donning my shorts. Tripp corrected that. His arm snaked around my waist.

“Hold on, honey.” He probed between my legs. I caught my breath as he slowly penetrated. By the time he was fully seated, I swear my eyes were bugging out of my head. “God, you’re so tight,” Tripp groaned as he withdrew ever so slightly.

I swear he filled me so completely I didn’t have the lung capacity even to sigh.

“You okay?” he whispered and then nibbled on my earlobe.

I nodded. I was incapable of any other response.

He started thrusting, slowly at first. I gripped the railing. The wood creaked from the strain of holding me upright as Tripp made love to me.

The sensations swirling through me were as emotional as they were physical. I tried to imagine waking up like this every morning but couldn’t wrap my mind around it.

“Come for me,” he said, his voice a harsh rasp.

One of his hands left my hips and burrowed to find that little orgasm push button.
