Chapter Seven
âYou're too kind for the likes of Tristan,â Joel blurted a couple of hours later, shocking me out of my fuzzy feelings.
He was leaning against the door, his knees raised up and his elbows resting on them. Weâd moved off the bed after a while, still too hyped up to stay close to one another. His promise to protect me had given me all sorts of fluttery feelings inside. If we ever escaped Tony, could we become good friends?
I fiddled with a longer bit of my hair and nibbled on my lip. âHe's like a brother really,â I muttered, âa silly admiration more than a burning desire.â
âWhat about me?â he said, raising his eyebrows. âHave you ever had a burning desire for me? Or even a little naughty thought? Before today, of course.â
Seriously? The guy had done nothing but call me names and ignore me the whole ten years I'd been coming to the camp. And yet, the moment he trusted me enough to tell me his story, something clicked. Joel was a contradictory hot bad boy who had closed his heart the moment he lost his brother. I'd done the same when Tony had violated me. We were quite similar, both broken and afraid.
âNot until now,â I replied, tilting my head to the side, âbut things have changed. For some bizarre reason, I trust you, even though we've been put in this predicament.â
His chest puffed as he watched me, his expression serious. âLike I said, I would never hurt you, even though I was dying to rip your clothes off with my claws.â
âThat's just the spell talking.â My cheeks heated and so did my pussy. âOnce it wears off, you'll be attracted to your blondies again.â
Laughing, he looked out of the window again. âYou're too kind for the likes of me, too. Those girls, they mean nothing. You...â Turning to look at me, he frowned. â... you... Ugh.â
Cringing, he spun and went to the door, thumping on it half-heartedly. The wiggle of his hips made me rub my neck.
When Joel turned back to the room, he grabbed his crotch. âIt's getting a little harder to resist myself.â
âLiterally,â I quipped back, taking a deep breath to try and stem the rising tension. âDo you need to, you know?â
An image of him gripping his cock made me get up in an attempt to distract myself. But I had nowhere to go.
âNo,â he said, laughing. âI'm okay, just achy.â
Going to the window, I stretched my arms up high. Joel groaned behind me so I dropped my arms and dared to look at him. He lifted his gaze from my arse as soon as my head turned, his neck flushing a lovely shade of pink. As gentle as heâd been earlier, he was still a horn-dog werewolf.
âShall we just lie down together?â I suggested, tired of fighting. âI want to sleep.â
His eyes narrowed on me, the lids growing heavy. âYou want to lie down with a semi-horny Lawless Brother?â
His seriousness made me chuckle.
