ALEKSANDR POV

This really fucking sucked.

I knew I had agreed to watch Sindra from afar to make sure she was okay, but I didn’t think I would have to sit through this. She was on a date with Thomas and I just couldn’t stand it.

Jealousy coursed through my veins as I watched them eat dinner at Deon’s Diner, talking and laughing the whole time, sharing a bond unlike anything I could have with her. While I wanted her, I liked her, and I was sure we had a great connection, I was sure Thomas was more likely to be a better match for her than me. He was a Lycan, like her, they shared an intense bond that could even be considered a mate bond. But more than that, Thomas was a good guy who would treat Sindra very well. They would likely have a very nice life together. Which would leave me out in the cold. Dimitri as well. Our feelings for Sindra wouldn’t have anywhere to go.

I guess the fact that Thomas would be better for her than I ever could be hurt more than anything else. I knew there was nothing I could do about it. I was stuck.

I huffed and slumped in the driver’s seat of my car, trying to figure out what I should do. What I could do. I was still reeling about everything. About the attack from the royal entourage, about everything Dimitri had told me, and about this.

Sindra tossed her head back and laughed, looking absolutely stunning. My heart skipped about ten beats as I admired her, as I thought about how truly lovely she was. Too good for me, just as Dimitri tried to suggest. I mean, I had her at my fingertips, but then I messed things up. I didn’t have any right to be upset about anything.

I checked my cell phone to see if maybe I’d missed a call or text from Dimitri, but there was nothing. He clearly needed the rest, but I didn’t think he would sleep for that long. I thought he’d be intent on checking in on Sindra because he was so worried about her, because he cared about her so much.

With the shit storm he was going through at the moment, it was probably not a good idea to make him watch Sindra go on a date with Thomas on top of everything else. If it was too much for me, it would definitely be too much for Dimitri.

Eventually, it looked like the date was wrapping up, which was a huge relief to me. But I was ready to follow Sindra to wherever she had to go next.

I ducked down in the car so I couldn’t be seen, which made me feel pretty stupid. Like I was playing at being a private investigator or something. I just needed some dumb night vision goggles and a black cap to complete the crazy look.

I couldn’t hear anything that was being said, but I didn’t need to, I could see the connection between them.
