A cold rain was falling. Though she promised him she wouldn’t cry, she did. She couldn’t help but think that the tigers that thrive in The Darkness were getting hungry. Through tears and a shaky, heartbroken voice, she sang to him I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together, the Carol Burnett signoff song. They both felt that awful feeling in the pit of their stomach, the feeling of leaving someone you love, not knowing if or when you’ll see them again. It hurt and there was nothing they could do about it. Being at the mercy of the world was never a good thing.

She told him she loved him and that she would be waiting. The last thing he said before he left was, “I love you, Beth. You look pretty today.”
