“Good evening. My name is Kasir. I am a refugee. I am here now, in my new country, and I am happy. But many are not lucky like me. I hope that from my story you will know how important it is to help the unlucky people.”

Kasir flipped past this opening, the first in his slim folder. His language skills were now advanced enough that he no longer needed to resort to the one with the most basic words. Instead, he could choose any of the six different openings he had, which had all been ghostwritten for him by Mohsen.

As the emcee made his introductory remarks, Kasir surveyed the crowd of professionals in attendance. He imagined their wallets, distended like sated bellies, ready to open upon hearing him.
