NO FACE
âYou have to stop and ask yourself what Lon Chaney would do with modern surgical technologies.â Bill says.
âSpecial effects arenât about hacking off your nose and wearing a prosthetic face for the rest of your life. Itâs about working with what is there and making people believe it isnât there. If it really isnât there, there is nothing special about that effect.â Mr. Romanoff says.
âI would be the next level of horror movie monster. Nobody would say no to me if I could scare their paints off them before I opened my mouth.â Bill says.
âIf you want to get married and have children you donât want to fumble around with prosthetic pieces, every time you get laid.â Mr. Romanoff says.
âWho said I want to get married? Or laid for that matter?â Bill says.
âYou are lucky, you were born with the right nose, eyes and lips. You got the best cheekbones the world has witnessed. What on earth makes you think you can make a better face for you than God did?â Mr. Romanoff asks.
âPlease donât get all religious about this. You know how much it stresses me out. I am not a fan of your god.â Bill says.
âWell if you think you can do better than what you were born with; then you will proceed at your own peril.â Mr. Romanoff says.
âMy whole face could be interchangeable from day to day. I would never have to be this thing or that thing. I could do anything and everything once I get all this flesh out of the way.â Bill says.
âOnce again you have prioritized the face and undermined the body. If you want to start tormenting your flesh why donât you get a tattoo and call it a day? Hell, maybe some tribal scarification will cure what ails you.â Mr. Romanoff says.
âI want to be the best. I know that there is still somebody out there who is better than me.â Bill says.
âThat is the cruel truth to life; that we all have to find peace with. There is always somebody better at the thing you are best at. Do you think it was easy for me when you surpassed me? Donât you think I find it insulting that you still donât think itâs good enough?â Mr. Romanoff asks.
âYou stopped progressing when you decided you would never be as good as your God. You settled for the masses opiate. I wonât settle, ever.â Bill says.
âThen you should go find her. I canât teach you anymore.â Mr. Romanoff says.
âMaybe I will.â Bill says.
Bill hangs up his phone. A muscular man with dark skin walks up to Bill. The man presses his foot down on the foot rest of the recliner Bill is in. Bill waves his hand.
âStop itâ Bill says.
The man smiles and forces Billâs chair out of reclining position. The man puts his hands on Billâs cheeks.
âI want every last mile of your cock.â The man says.
Billâs face screws up.
âI am not a fan of that level of hyperbole.â Bill says.
