Work is great. I’ve been in contact with Christopher, he says the house for the Carter family is coming along nicely and construction will be complete in the next few weeks. Then, all it will need is some paint and furniture and we’ll be able to reveal the surprise! I can barely contain my excitement. I also call to check on the Carter’s and see how they’re enjoying their new condo for now.

Mrs. Carter says they love it and everything is going great. I’m so happy for them and I know they are going to be ecstatic when they see what we’ve done for them.

I spend the day catching up on everything I’ve been slacking on lately. Entering information into the computer, going over finances, planning out fundraisers; all in all the day is going good. My office phone buzzes, I hit the intercom button and Tristan’s voice comes over the phone.

“Miss Taylor, Ashlan is on the line for you.”

“Thank you Tristan, go ahead and put her through.”

“Yes ma’am,” the phone buzzes again and I pick up the receiver.

“Hey Ash.”

“Hey Ari, how was the rest of your weekend?”

“It was incredible. How about yours?”

“It was great! Damien is amazing, I really think I’m falling for him.”

“Awe, that is awesome Ashlan, I’m so happy for you! Are you coming home tonight?”

“Yes, actually that’s why I’m calling. Damien is working late tonight and obviously I don’t have my car, would you mind picking me up?”

“Of course I don’t mind. What time is your shift over?

“I’ll be done at 4.”

“Okay, I’ll see you then.”

“Okay, see you later and thank you!”

“You’re welcome,” I say and hang up.

I look at the time, it's noon, I decide to skip lunch. I need to work, the time I’ve been taking off lately has set me back. I hear my cell phone ding in my desk. I pull it out and there’s a text from Landon. I open it and read it.

Hi my love, hope you are having a good day at work.

Do you want to do lunch? Let me know. Love, L

My heart warms reading the text. I have missed him all day, but I can’t take lunch today. I text him back.

Hey baby, my day is going great. Hope yours is going good as

well. Can’t do lunch today, I have a ton of work to catch up

on. I’ll call you later. I love you. Love, Ari <3

He replies immediately.

Okay, I understand. I’ll talk to you later. I miss you!

& I love you too. L

I smile at the phone like an idiot. I shoot him back a quick text.

I miss you too. Now stop bugging me, I have work to do. Xo

I put my phone back in my desk before it can distract me anymore. I work diligently at the tasks I need to accomplish today. Assistance applications have been pouring in steadily and I wish like hell I could help every single one of them, but unfortunately that is impossible at the moment. I go through each application, organizing them by priority; emergency, intermediate, and yellow.
