CHAPTER TWELVE

SADIE SHUFFLED ON her feet in warrior pose, feeling too hot in the glaring sun that was streaming through the roof of the fernery. The yoga instructor had organised another hot session amongst the plants, and while she was glad of a little Zen, admittedly she was a little sore from last night. She could barely remember the last time she’d had so much sex in one night.

‘And...let’s move into our planks, everyone.’

Sadie followed the instructions, keeping an eye on her patients. She was pleased with Portia’s progress. Despite her initial setback, the yoga was helping to strengthen the appropriate muscles around her head, neck, and shoulders. Relaxing facial exercises meant her episodic headaches were now fewer, with far more space between.

As for Vivek’s hand-eye co-ordination—he seemed to be a different person after remembering his piano ballads the night of the gala.

The mood around the place was light. It was just Sadie’s heart that felt heavy, as if it had suddenly taken on way too much. She kept getting flashbacks of the way she’d pounced on Owen in her bedroom doorway, the way he’d responded, and how it had escalated way beyond what she’d initially intended.

She also had a feeling Parminder knew. She was loitering outside now, on duty in case anything went wrong, but she kept giving her the eye. Parminder had heard them going into her room last night...she was sure of it. Ugh, she’d lost all control of her mind!

‘And let’s meet in our downward dog,’ came the next instruction, leading to Vivek’s disgruntled groan.

Sadie bit back a smile. ‘You can do it,’ she encouraged him.

OK, so he’d been happier before his therapeutic stretching session in the humid fernery, but soon he’d be Zen again. More Zen than her, anyway.

Her heart gave a little bunny hop as another flashback came for her—Owen’s face hovering above hers, the light behind him outlining his strong muscled arms and chest, their perspiration adding to her wetness as they slid and sparked together.

A trickle of sweat dripped from her forehead to her mat. The memories were as persistent as a team of fruit flies around a glass of Pinot Noir. She could recall every single detail of the four times they’d taken each other in rapid succession, stopping only once for Owen to fetch more condoms as discreetly as he could from his own room.

Sadie shifted position on her yoga mat...closed her eyes. Each time her body took on a new shape she was thrown back to her naked gymnastics with Owen. She’d initiated it, yes but she hadn’t exactly meant to. She’d been going to apologise for shutting him out. She knew he hated that, maybe as much as she did. She’d been on her way to talk about their obvious attraction, to get it out in the open, maybe even try and laugh about her crush in the hope that it would disappear, but she’d wound up doing none of that.
