She raved about dinner. I do make an excellent steak if I say so myself, but it was nothing compared to the sinful spice of her sweet heat on my tongue. I needed another fix. This time I needed more than to bury my face between her warm, willing thighs. I needed to bury my cock deep inside of her.

Rushing her was not an option. I wasn’t that guy, but, my God, I was starved for her. I walked a knife’s edge of arousal fed by the endless fantasies I had about her and the nights I’d willingly slept on the couch at her house so Olivia wouldn’t know about my new role.

She reclined against me on the chaise we’d made use of earlier and sipped another beer. I’d gone from measuring time in breaths to measuring it in heartbeats. Damn, I needed her.

“It’s getting late,” she whispered.

Was it? I hadn’t noticed. The entirety of my focus was on the way her lush asscheeks cradled my cock when she laid back against me. The memory of her body milking my fingers drummed in my head. Needed her. Now.

“Let’s go to bed, baby.” My voice was the consistency of gravel. Nonchalance wasn’t something I could feign any longer.

She sat forward and stared up at me. “What happens when we go to bed?”

“That is entirely up to you.”

That got me a few mechanical nods. “What if I just wanted to go to sleep?”

That isn’t what she wanted, but she needed to be reassured that she always had an out. I would always provide everything she needed. “Then I’ll open the windows.” I tucked a few loosened strands of her hair behind her ear and stroked her cheek. Her eyes closed as she reveled in my caress. Her body made an effort to communicate its needs on her behalf.

“Why would you open the windows?”

“Because if you just want to sleep then that’s exactly what we’ll do. But I’m going to tuck you close to me, under the blankets on my bed, and hold you all night long. If the house is chilly, you’ll scoot closer, let me keep you warm.” Dammit, I needed to be her choice.

She grinned. Her own hunger reflected off the moonlight in her eyes. “I don’t just want to sleep.”

“I know.” I drew her back to me, cradling her in my arms. “I know what you need and what you’re afraid to want. Let me worship you tonight, baby. You have always deserved that. Let me show you how good we can be together.”

“See, you don’t get it.” Her hand splayed over my chest. The heat amped the electricity flowing readily between us.

“I don’t get what?” That was a direct hit to both my savior and my warrior sides. What the hell did she think I failed to understand? I understood every single thing.

“I already know how good we’ll be together. That’s what scares me most of all.”

She was wrong. I did get that. I just didn’t know what to do about it.
