Much larger than they would seem, these carved nineteenth-century plaques are in actuality five to six feet tall. The photograph below serves as a reference for scale as well as a reminder that no shot is entirely straightforward.

Once a day hotel where travelers could relax between trips, the building now houses a branch of the bank Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna. The original hotel sign from 1910 remains, carefully tucked away into a dark galleria. If you inquire and present your documenti (and are willing to wait for the collega to return from having a coffee), you will be escorted to the basement to view the original baths, still in mint condition (below).
