Chapter Seven

Conrad lay awake in bed.

Thinking about Sonny and their planned meeting, Conrad

wondered how they would sneak past infrared night cameras,

both enter the laundry room at midnight, and come out together

after. Or even one at a time. How do you explain that? Midnight

laundry? Stain pre-scrubbing? Ironing while sleep-walking?

No. Even if their actual sex act could not be seen, the

image of their clandestine meeting would be. They could not

escape the ubiquitous cameras, day or night.

Did that mean he would stand Sonny up? Hell no!

How could they do it? Even if he hid his face with a shirt,

the camera would catch which bedroom doors men exited from.

Planning this all night, Conrad had left his door wide open so at

least the sight of it moving wouldn’t be a problem.

He had to touch Sonny. He couldn’t take wanting him and

not being able to kiss him.

Using his two pillows, Conrad pushed them under the

blankets lengthwise so they created a lump in the bed.

He took a peek at the camera, judging its angles again. As

quickly as he could he rolled off mattress and edged under the

bed. On his belly he inched to the open door. Though it was

pitch dark in his room, he knew this was crazy. The night vision

lenses would catch him. It didn’t matter. He could say he and
