I expected something like this. There were plenty of ways to get rich in the game, but they were all tied to special mechanisms. If you played fast and loose with the rules, you’ll be slapped down. This applies especially to clans, which are strictly forbidden to engage in foul play. Otherwise, the newcomer TOP protégés would occupy the entire top tier in the ratings, totally screwing up the balance of power in the game. And so hypothetically, each group had the opportunity to go forth and prosper.

High-level clans could only provide indirect help to their offspring lest they be accused of funny business. They had no right to send their terminators to resolve issues in the sandbox, or give their progeny super valuable property. They could, of course provide donations, but within reasonable limits. Otherwise, internal revenue might start looking their way. And I’m talking about the real world tax police, no playing around in the game.
