Her pussy still tingling with unfinished business, Cailey basked in the dayâs lingering heat as she stepped off the porch to cross the hard-packed gravel yard. To Deanâs surprise, sheâd sent him away after he agreed to the terms of her surrender. Sheâd needed to do some work, and there wouldâve been no concentrating with him in the room.
Oh God. The expression on his face as he withdrew his talented fingers from between her legsâ¦she shuddered, and a lick of anticipation radiated from her core. His calculating eyes had held a dangerous promise.
Heâd accepted the no-contact clause. Didnât mean he was happy about it. She would pay. He would collect. And the currency would be her body. A debt she was eager to settle.
Jesus. If she werenât careful, she could easily spend her entire time at Oak Creek under the spell of one sexy-assed distraction. She needed to keep her head on straight, and her shit compartmentalized, or she wouldnât make it through this in one piece.
Even though she acted as Haileyâs stand-in for the Red Rock Festival, she still had her own job to do. As the site administrator for Celebration, it was her responsibility to create and post daily content.
She usually kept a weekâs worth of blogs ready to go, but her brother had sent his Thailand footage in late, and the video had needed an edit before being added to tomorrowâs feature on the Phi Phi Islands.
Jesus, wait until their mother saw his latest cliff-jumping shenanigans. Leanne wanted her son back in Canada and back in University studying to become a doctor. A conversation Cailey wanted no part of.
As she neared the entrance to the covered picnic area, her pulse quickened like she was the one about to jump off a cliff. Dean planned to meet her here, and she was nervous about her introduction to the rest of his family.
Fuck. How awkward would this be?
Heâd told her not to worry. Said they would love her.
It did little to assuage her fears. He wasnât a hide-your-intentions kind of man. He planned to move into the Foreman cottage with her for the duration of her stay, and he didnât give a crap who thought what about it.
To be honest, she gave a crap. It mattered to her what his family thought, and the idea of lying to them made her sick to her stomach. Oh God. She should turn around now. Run back to her cabin. Hide under the bed. Mainline tequila. Whatever it took to calm the wave of anxiety building inside her.
She breathed deep, exhaled hard, and continued to put one foot in front of the other. The murmur of voices mingled in conversation grew louder as she neared the courtyard fronting the pavilion.
Dotted with lovely terracotta planters spilling over with an abundance of fragrant blooms, the spacious brick patio welcomed with comfortable sitting areas scattered about. Under colorful umbrellas, guests snacked on chips and salsa while enjoying their beverages.
Beer in sweating bottles, salt-rimmed margaritas in sturdy goblets, white wine in stemless glasses.
