"Where exactly is that going to fit?" Branden gaped at my dessert. I'd gone classic, Pietro's tiramisu and a cappuccino.

"In the dessert stomach, obviously."

Branden shook his head and sipped his own coffee. After a huge meal, dessert might have been too much for the average Pietro's goer. But I'd come prepared, skipping lunch to make sure I could eat all of these delights. One couldn't simply come into Pietro expecting to finish everything on their first try.

"Well, you're impressive in a scary way."

I chuckled and pushed my teaspoon towards him. "Sure you don't want a taste?"

Branden sighed and leaned over the table, closing his lips around the piece of tiramisu. He moaned, his eyes fluttering closed. "Wow, that's amazing."

I blushed and going half hard at the sound of his moan. "Next time, you'll be prepared and ready to eat everything."

"I'd love that."

The tension in my shoulders vanished. I'd noticed it as soon as I'd realized I'd proposed a next time. I looked up and returned Branden’s smile. Okay, maybe I wasn't the only one who was having the time of their lives. At the very least, Branden didn't want to run out the back door.

As our waiter brought us the check, Branden attempted to take it. I was faster though. "You can get the next one," I said as I gave my card.

Branden frowned for a second, then nodded. "Deal."

The moment we stepped out of the restaurant, my left hand started to tingle. I craved to take his hand in mine as we walked, but I wasn't sure we were there yet. Or that he liked that kind of stuff.

"You okay?"

"Yeah... Umm, sure, great."

"Come on, you look a bit blue. Maybe it's the cold." He reached out and took my hand, walking me all the way to the car. I looked down at our hands and grinned, feeling heat spreading through my body. His touch made me feel grounded and hopeful. Yeah, this was perfect.

I hated the fact I had to let go of him to drive us home. Still, the car seemed different. Smaller, warmer, like we were closer now than before. Maybe it had been the conversation through dinner. Maybe it was Branden himself and how easy I found it to be around him. Be with him.

Whatever it was, I hoped I got to experience more of it. More dates, more time, more Branden.

"Here we are," I said, cringing at the dejection in my voice. I wasn't ready for the evening to be over. Didn't think I'd ever be ready.

We stepped into the elevator in silence, my eyes glued to Branden. I'd at least squeeze in a little more watch time. The elevator dinged as we arrived at my floor and, to my utter shock, Branden followed me out and walked me to my door.

"Thanks for tonight, Simon. I've had a great time."

"My pleasure. That tiramisu was worth it."

Branden shook his head and looked away. "Please don't remind me. Impressive as it might be to watch you inhale so much food, it made me a little nauseated.
