This type of evidence can tell a lot about its âsupplier,â and serves well as a âportableâ track trap. (a) Canine scat; (b) White-tailed deer scat.
I worked in the Border Patrol with a man who seemed to make a study of human excrement. A quick observation was usually all it took for most people, but this man would probe and examine the stuff until he could tell whether the producer was a Democrat or Republican. While I admire his tenacity in extracting the maximum amount of information from this type of clue, I deplore his complete lack of common sense. Actually, I think he made such a big deal out of it because it moved slowly and he didnât have to expend much energy to study it.
