Step 8: celebr8
No laundry is going to keep itself looking the way yours does right now. You need to add regular laundry cleaning and maintenance to your home care schedule. So let’s quickly make a list of the tasks that need to be done to keep your laundry humming. Here is an example of timely tasks for laundries. Use this list or create your own.
Timely tasks for laundries
Lock it in!
Once you have completed your own task list, add the tasks to your home care schedule. You will need to lock in a time to complete each task to maintain your new-look laundry.
Raise the bar!
It’s time to set new standards, new rules and new rituals to maintain your clean, organised and functional laundry.
Keep your ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos handy to remind yourself of how far you have come and to see the new standard you have set. Create a few new rules, such as: ‘I always fold washing as soon as it comes out of the dryer or off the clothes line’, ‘I always put a load of washing on as soon as the basket is full’ and ‘I always pre-sort washing into lights, darks and household linen’.
String a few tasks together to create a few new rituals. Your ‘doing the washing’ ritual could be something like this:
• Select load, check pockets and wash.
• Hang out to dry.
• Fold and place into ironing basket to iron while watching the news.
You are in control! Create new rituals to guide you through linen change days and any other stressful time periods or tasks.
Maintain it!
Now all you need to do is follow your home care schedule and live up to your new standards. It will be easy to achieve with your fresh, clean laundry as your foundation.
