Application (When to use it!)

This is often used with large groups, but as mentioned above, it works just as well with small groups. Of course, it is a great way to start the meeting, but it also can be used as a transition to change activities. Use Line Up Lanes whenever you think it will energize and liven up the group. It’s fun, and at the same time, we often learn new things about the people we are working with.

Elaboration (How to use it!)

Line Up Lanes that work:

Line up by birthday months, years of experience, number of children, favorite season of the year, pizza preference, seniority at the school, favorite beverages, and so on. It’s fun and it gets people talking and laughing before they get down to business.

One example of Line Up Lanes is a PLC leader asking the members to line up by the last four digits of their Social Security number—just to jog their memories of that number, which is asked so often.
