It was mid-afternoon and the airport was fairly busy. The two women with tearful eyes stood gazing at each other and holding hands. “Well, this is it,” said Tavia, a catch clear in her voice. “It’ll be weeks before I can hold you again.”

“I’ll call as soon as I get in,” promised Bradana.

“The plan is one week in New York, a week in Chicago, Seattle, then Vancouver, Edmonton, and back here?”

“That’s the schedule, my darling,” replied Bradana, fighting to keep the tears from her eyes.

“I’ll join you before Vancouver or die in the attempt,” avowed Tavia, as she squeezed Bradana’s hands tightly.

“I’ll be waiting for the magic call that tells me you’re ready to come to me. Promise me you won’t work yourself to death….”

“I promise, my love. That’s the third call for your flight, sweetheart; I have to let you go now.” Tears leaked from her eyes as she threw herself into Bradana’s arms and kissed her.

Bradana backed slowly into the security area, and out of Tavia’s line of vision. They were parted. Tears flowed freely down her cheeks as Tavia turned and fled the airport. A very bemused young man tried to get her attention as she fled past him. Jack Morris had witnessed the whole parting scene and he was sure one of the women was his girlfriend.
