“Bunny, are you sure Shade didn’t mention where she was going?” Kingston asked again.

“Did she mention something… anything?”

“She did say that Big Mama would be over here to get KJ,” Mary recalled.

“That means she didn’t go over there to hide out. I will call some of her friends to see if she’s over one of their houses. I’m willing to bet money that she’s made a b-line over to Mike’s house.”

Big Mama walked into the room with her purse hanging off her arm. She overheard some of Mary and Kingston’s conversation and wondered did something happen last night.

“What’s going on, y’all?” asked Big Mama cheerfully.

“Nothing, Big Mama,” Mary replied. She walked over to Big Mama and gave her a hug.

“How are you this morning?”

“I’m fine, baby,” Big Mama replied.

“Where is that big head little baby and his big headed mama?” Big Mama asked. Mary looked back at Kingston, then up at Big Mama.

“KJ is in the nursery, sleeping. I don’t know where Shade went off to,” Mary replied uncomfortably.

“No one seems to know where Shady went. She’s seemed to have disappeared over night,” Kingston replied.

“The two of you must have been arguing,” Big Mama smirked.

“She likes to disappear on your ass when you piss her off!” Big Mama said. Kingston side-eyed Big Mama, then rolled his eyes.

“I don’t have time for dis shit, mon! Something has happened to my parents and no one seems to give a fuck! Shady knows dat I’m stressed the fuck out, yet she pulls some shit like dis! I should—”

“You should what? Call all of her friends to see if she’s over their house?” Big Mama offered.

“I know good and got-damn well you weren’t going to say shit else!”

“I’m about to go check on KJ,” Mary said anxiously.

“Yeah… you do that because I don’t want you to witness what happens next,” Big Mama snapped. Mary quickly walked past Big Mama and left out of the room. Kingston raised his head and looked at Big Mama.

“I feel like I’m having a conversation with my wife. Big Mama, all I was about to say is that I should have taken a different approach last night,” Kingston offered.

“We got into an argument and I said some things…”

“You said some things, huh? You must have really said something if she left and you didn’t know it. I understand that you are under a lot of stress and pressure, but don’t take it out on my grandbaby. She doesn’t know how to handle this type of emotional stress and will rebel against you if she feels forced,” Big Mama explained. “She’s always been that way since she was a little girl. Both her mama and daddy have that same type of strong will.”

“I understand that, Big Mama, but she needs to realize that I am the man of the household and everything that I do is for the betterment of this family. How can I protect her from people that are trying to kill her if she keeps
