“Morning, Lady Bug. How are you feeling?” She walks into the kitchen wearing nothing but my t-shirt immediately reaching for a mug and a K-cup of her favorite coffee, which I also keep stocked all the time just in case.

She raises her pointer finger and mumbles, “Coffee first.”

Turning back to the eggs I’m cooking on the stove I smile to myself and shake my head. She remains silent until her mug of coffee is completely ready at which point, she lifts it to her lips and takes a sip.

“Ahh,” she sighs with a satisfied smile. “How do I feel? Uh, I guess I feel freshly fucked and satisfied in more ways than I can count.”

She’s not wrong. Three times between four-thirty and six in the morning was an amazing dream come true. I chuckle softly and then turn to place a kiss on her forehead.

“I meant your arm, but I’m glad to hear you’re a satisfied woman.” I pat her ass and then lift her chin with my finger so I can try to read her eyes. Rory’s good at saying things and hiding her true feelings. Sometimes I get her, and I know exactly what she’s thinking. Others…well, may the odds please be in my favor.

“Are you sure you’re alright? Not too sore?”

“Oh, I’m sore.” She nods, a light humor to her voice. “Walking down the hall to get to the kitchen felt a little different this morning. But I promise I’m sore in only all the best ways.”

“I wasn’t too hard with you?”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“Rory…”

She grasps my forearm. “I’m perfectly fine, Hawken. Look, I can even raise my arm a little more this morning.” She lifts her arm until it’s even with her shoulder before she winces and drops it back down.

“You’ll tell me if I’m ever too rough?”

Her eyes narrow and she twists her mouth. “You say that like you’re implying this will happen again?”

Her comment throws me for a loop catching me off guard. I drop my hand from her chin and step back. “Oh. I don’t…I didn’t…I’m sorry. I thought yo—"

“Don’t get your panties in a bunch, Hawken.” She grins. “Of course, I want it to happen again. And I’m not just saying that because your dick is better than any toy I’ve ever owned.”

Thank Christ.

“Right.” I nod. “Okay, good.”

“We should just, you know, set some ground rules.”

I turn back to the stove and turn off the burner, my brows furrowing. “Rules? What do you mean?”

“I mean if we’re going to be fuck buddies, we should have rules, you know?”

Wait, what?

The small bubble of happiness in my chest deflates at her suggestion.

Fuck buddies?

Who said anything about fuck buddies?

“Wait, I don’t understand.” I dish out our breakfast and place a plate of eggs and toast in front of her.

“Thanks,” she says, grabbing her fork and taking a bite. “Mmm. So good.” She swallows before continuing. “Yeah, I gave it a lot of thought before falling asleep last night and it seems like the most logical answer.
