Bricín. $ IRISH Candles and an open fire cast a warm light on Persian-style rugs and dark red walls hung with antique engravings of Killarney at this cozy little eatery set above a ground-floor craft emporium on the main street, while simple country-style wooden tables and stick-back chairs are set within “snug” areas created by stained-glass panels. Gaby’s Seafood. $$$ SEAFOOD Old-fashioned in the best sense of the word, and long-established, this is a special-occasion venue where you can expect the best seafood and steak in Killarney. Local turbot, salmon, langoustine, and lobster are served in classic style on white napery in a low-lit, timbered dining room. Known for: Lobster “Gaby”; special-occasion dining; excellent steaks. Treyvaud’s. $$$ EUROPEAN FAMILY Step behind the Victorian arched facade here and you’ll discover a buzzing contemporary restaurant, masterminded by the two Treyvaud brothers, that features classic Irish dishes (fish cakes, sausages, or bacon and cabbage, for example) with a continental twist. The interior is simple—pine floorboards, wood-beam ceiling, lines of red-back chairs—so the food takes center stage.
