The Dade Massacre, as it came to be known, touched off the Second Seminole War, a war that dragged on for seven years and became the country’s costliest Indian war. While visiting the small museum and reading the markers along the battlefield trail, you’ll have a chance to ponder the events of December 28, 1835. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset daily.
