• RE-ing Step 5 •

We’ve just gone through all that gathering up of information and open-mindedly thinking about it, so when we ask ourselves the question again, we can see what we think now.

For me, it’s this:

Flaws are (still) things about me that bug me, but now I’m willing to consider . . .

being bugged by them is actually a good thing?

in dealing with having flaws, it makes us better, richer, more thoughtful people?

That’s my new take on them: My human imperfections make me more interesting and more precious, not less.

Test it out in your own life. Walk around with these ideas. Go find some more ideas. See what feels true to you.

Once you’ve gotten into a habit of RE-ing, you’ll want to do it all the time. Because thinking for ourselves is fun! And maybe more important, the ability to think for ourselves is power. It’s the power to live your life according to the definitions you think up, you try out, and you decide on.
