“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR fucking mind?” Wade muttered as he worked at dousing the fire. “Taking her to your home?” Idiot!

After extinguishing the fire, he took a seat on the hearth to wait for her. How in the hell did he think he was going to survive with her in his house all damn night? You have seriously lost your mind, King.

When she entered the room, he quickly stood then walked to her and took her small bag.

“Are you sure you’re all right with this? I mean we don’t exactly get along very well.”

“I put up with you last night, didn’t I?”

Hannah stared up at him and he watched as her lips twitched. “Uh, yes, you did.”

Frowning, he jerked his chin for her to go. “Get your coat and boots on.”

“I could change—”

“Would you just go?” he growled.

She narrowed her eyes at him then spun on her heel and headed for the kitchen.

“Probably taking me over there to kill me,” she murmured as she moved along in front of him.

“If I was going to do that, I would have left you in the snow. Smartass.”

When she snorted, he chuckled then followed her into the kitchen where he grabbed his hat off the peg and slapped it on his head. She put her coat, hat, boots, and gloves on then they stepped onto the porch.

“Shit, it’s cold,” she said as she ran down the steps and climbed into his truck.

Wade followed her down the steps, opened his door, and threw her bag into the back seat then he climbed in and started the truck. The drive to his home was silent. Pulling the truck up to the back door, he shut the engine off.

“Ready?” he asked her.

“Yes.” She threw open the door and stepped out then ran up the steps to the back door.

Wade grinned as he watched her open the door then enter his house. So much for waiting for an invitation. Shaking his head, he retrieved her bag from the back seat then walked up the steps and entered the house. He noticed her hat, coat, and gloves lay over a stool at the center island and her boots were sitting by the door. He set her bag down then took his hat and coat off before hanging them in the mudroom. He then headed to the living room to discover her sitting in his recliner staring up at the TV.

“Please, make yourself at home,” he said sarcastically.

“Thanks, I will.”

Rolling his eyes, he took a seat on the sofa and looked up at the TV. A game show was on.

“Are you hungry?” he asked.

“Yes. How do you have power in all the rooms?”

“I have a backup generator. Like hospitals have. When I built the house, I had one put in. I don’t care for the smaller ones like you have. Power could stay out for hours.”

“I wonder why Dad never did that.”

“No clue. I told him about it and he always said he’d look into it, but he never did.
