Chapter Five

When he kisses me for the first time in the elevator, I realise that my earlier doubts were unfounded. This is the single best moment of my life so far. All those mixed signals I’d had trouble interpreting earlier, they snap into place. He hadn’t been trying to play me. Fate had played us both.

We barely spend any time upstairs looking at the view; so engrossed are we with the view of each other. Our lips, hands, eyes; we can’t keep any of them to ourselves. I’m so wet for him already. I’ve never experienced anything like it before.

“You’re okay with this, right?” he asks me in between feverish kisses.

They’re the sort that take your breath away.

Although I’m not entirely certain what he’s really asking, I only mouth my answer: a resounding ‘yes’. Lawrence immediately leads me back into the elevator for a more extensive make-out session. His strong hands press me up against the smooth metal of the cabin as he devours not just my mouth, but my cheeks, as well as the side of my neck and my cleavage. Never have I been swept up in this much passion.

Nobody has ever made me feel like this. I’m tempted to hit the stop button and rip his clothes off right here.

Sex is easy. With the likes of Tinder, it can be had almost at any time with any number of willing participants. I should know; it’s my usual M.O. But this right here is something else.

There’s a depth of emotion attached to our encounter that I’ve never experienced before. He’s everything I never even knew I need in my life. Saying yes to this date tonight was the single best decision I’ve ever made.

My mind fogs over while still in the elevator. I hardly realise what’s happening by the time we arrive at a reception desk, where a perfectly dressed man presents us with a key card to a room.

The door closes behind us and I find myself completely alone with Lawrence. The view out the huge window rivals the cityscape we’d just ignored upstairs.

Tonight is going to be a night to remember. A story which—censored for propriety—would be worth telling our children and perhaps even grandchildren one day.

He takes his jacket off and approaches. His attention is on me again.

I’m putty in his hands; helpless against his affections. Everything he does to me, I wish I could tell him how much it means to me. I wish I could make him feel the same. But I can’t get even a single word out.

Instead, I show him with my own hands, my lips, my eyes, which keep seeking out his.

He lays me down on the large bed and positions himself beside me.

That won’t do; I wrap my arm around his side and guide him on top. It feels so good, having his firm body pressed up against mine like this. My hands explore his back and shoulders through the thin cotton fabric of his shirt. He’s all muscle.
