I don’t know how my life got so screwed up. I’ll be twenty-one in a few weeks, yet I sometimes feel like this is fate kicking me in the ass over and over again while simultaneously laughing its own off. Especially right now.

I drove all the way to Austin for this trip, nearly two hours from my frat house. But, according to Gunnar, one of my classmates, and my roommate, this was one of the best places to go to get…supplies.

Being at school gave me more freedom than I’d ever allowed myself. I still wasn’t out to my family or friends, and my reputation still meant a lot to me. My brothers in the fraternity were cool but being out was still an uneasy subject. One of the guys, Luca, came out and was so uncomfortable with it that he left. Gunnar came to the frat already out and proud and somehow knew I was. Gaydar, he said. Like he had a nose for sniffing us out.

Gunner was hot, but luckily, not my type. I wasn’t one for the preppy looking kind, I gravitated more to the troubled, unshaven guys. The ones who could teach me a thing or two. At least, that’s the kind I heavily fantasized about when I went through Gunnar’s porn stash.

Being paired with Gunner in the frat was like a godsend to me. I had a place where I could wholeheartedly be me and a person I could be one hundred percent honest with. Gunnar dubbed himself my fairy gaybrother, sent to this school to teach me the way of the gay.

Which is why I’m now here, in Austin, on a late Wednesday afternoon. I should be in my calculus class. But instead, I’m staring at the plain brick building with a giant sign that glows bright blue and green neon at night. It’ll be dusk soon so I need to get in and out.

Gunnar’s words still rang in my head from our conversation a few weeks ago.

“So, are you a top or bottom?”

“What? I-I mean, I’ve…I don’t know” His question catches me off guard while we study in our room.

“Finn! The day’s going to come when you’re gonna be in the room with some hot piece of ass. You’re going to want to fuck him, or him you, and you’ve got to be prepared. This isn’t high school anymore. So, which is it?”

It’s one thing I like about Gunnar – his ability to be blunt and caring at the same time.

I just shrug my shoulders and stare at him.

“Look, I get a discount at one of the Forbidden Apple’s in Austin. It’s out of the way so no one will recognize you. Just drop my name and have fun.”

The Forbidden Apple is one of Houston and Austin’s most popular sex toy shops. I’ve not been in one, until now, but I see them everywhere. They’re almost as common as Starbucks these days.

I open the door and a small bell jingles. Immediately I’m greeted with a two-for-one sale on fuzzy handcuffs in every color imaginable.
