“Are you listening to this shit?” Nyx growled. Once they made their decision, they all agreed not to leave the room quite yet. They wanted to spy a little more, to figure out where they really stood. They did not like what they were hearing. Although the Guides seemed to be reasonable, the five still didn’t like how they talked about them behind their backs.

“We are,” Wesely snarled. “Who is that little asshole?”

“He is an Elder,” Mylz said angrily. The man who had been at lead Nyx’s Awakening was standing in the background, looking pensive, but not talking.

They had been listening all morning long to the different conversations that were taking place all over their house. It was like they had been invaded by various supernatural worlds. It was crazy that no one seemed to give a shit that this mansion was not their house, it was Nyx and her friends, but it didn’t seem to matter to most of the people who were wandering around like they owned the place. It pissed them all off, but so far, they had not come out of the panic room, they had stayed in and just watched and listened to everything going on around them.

“Should we go out and tell them all to fuck off?” Bell snapped.

“We need to get more information about what they are planning, and what we are going to allow,” Nyx said absently. “This is the best conversation we have listened to.”

No one argued because it was the best conversation they had listened to. So far most of the conversations have been about the five friends and what changes they might bring. It had been boring really, but about ten minutes ago, all the Guides and three Elders had convened in the main ballroom for a meeting. None of them were happy with the way they were talking.

“They are talking like we are not even here like they shouldn’t have invited us to this discussion about our lives!” Sage growled.

“Let's just listen for a few minutes,” Nyx said quietly.

Pilar was talking loudly so they could hear her the best, “We should be asking the new leaders what their opinion is on this.”

The Elder who apparently seemed to think that he was in charge snapped, “No we should not. They are too young and have no clue about what is going on in our world. At best, they should be learning the basics about our world, it will take years to bring them up to speed, and we don’t have that kind of time. No, I believe you Guides need to take them in hand. Humans have no idea the powers we possess, and soon enough they are going to make a move against us. We need to be prepared.”

“There is another threat,” one of the Guides said.

“That is Rampart, the Witch Guide,” Mylz whispered.

The Elder waved his hand, “We don’t need to worry about him anymore. We need to worry about humans and the threats they are going to pose.
