Chapter 13

Kit - I’ll be doing what, now?

We lie on our sides facing each other, breathing each other’s air, comfortable in the silence while we catch our breath. I am hyperaware of my entire body, feeling my skin tingle and pucker as Bobby trails his fingers, soft as feathers, along my arm.

I am reeling; not only from the best sex I’ve ever had in my life, but also from, well, mostly from, Bobby’s declaration of love. I never expected him to love me back. I knew I loved him. I’ve known since I met him.

When he locked me in his sight at the club, I felt my stomach turn and my heart tumble. I knew he had power over me that I never wanted to surrender to anyone.

To have that kind of power to make me so happy, but the potential to make me so miserable; giving that out didn’t sit well with me. I didn’t want it. I fought it.

But it seems it was never something for me to give, but something to be taken, and Bobby… he took it.

He didn’t have my permission, but that doesn’t seem to matter anymore, because I love him, and he loves me, and I physically ache at the thought of him not being around.

When he told me he loved me too, my earlier uncertainties; my complications, my self-doubt, any thoughts I had about my body physically lacking—all of it—no longer mattered to me, because I believed him. My heart believed his.

Bobby is a man of honor, not one to throw words like that carelessly around, and I believe his words with every fiber of my being.

I thought it would be scary, loving someone, having them love me back, but the scariest part was in the not knowing. Now that I know, I feel as if something clicked into place, and we just … fit.

“What are you thinking?” he asks, startling me as he sits up, bending his arm and resting his head on his open palm, smiling down at me.

“Hmm, I was thinking about you,” I mumble out, thoroughly relaxed, and he raises his eyebrows in question. “I was thinking that maybe we should go out for pasta more often.” I clarify and he smiles wolfishly and leans down, kissing me.

I can see myself reflected in his deep chocolate eyes as he watches me.

“We will go out for pasta, often. I promise. Soooo … Kit?”

I don’t even know why, but I blush. “Yeah?”

He continues watching me for a moment, his eyes slowly moving across my face, almost like a physical caress.

“Who knew there was this whole other side to you, huh?” he says, dirty grin taking up his whole face and making me blush deeper, then whispers, “My own femme fatale. Who knew shy Kit would almost make me blow my load just by watching you … Fuck, your little show in my car, you could kill me. You have the power to end me, do you know that?”

Leaning down again, running his tongue along my lip, he takes a moment then backs away again.
