The Tourist costume designer Colleen Atwood dressed Angelina Jolie in a deliberate homage to the timeless and oh-so-chic style of Irene

In 2013, Greg LaVoi, costume designer for television series The Closer (2005–12), relaunched the Irene name as a contemporary update on her timeless designs – a celebration of Irene’s chic made-in-America craftsmanship and neat, slender silhouette. This is not Paris; Irene is the ‘California look’. LaVoi has more than 300 vintage Irene dresses in his own personal collection, which he often used for Kyra Sedgwick’s character Brenda Leigh Johnson on The Closer.

Though Irene’s life was cut short, her legacy in cinema and fashion is embedded in history.
