Unwanted Desires.

Ì´ Famine Late Winter 2027 Ì´

I have released all the mortals who followed me since I have no use for them. In truth, I never did, but the son of Adam, who still travels with me, insisted they would be a benefit. They were not. The ones who left without protest are alive. Those who did not meet my vines.

I’m confident this will come as a surprise to many. Yet I don’t care, just as I didn’t when Nevil questioned me or when the lamb made demands upon me. I will offer no explanation because it is something I don’t understand myself.

We remain in the community where the lamb had made such an affectionate declaration about me, and I cannot fathom why. I can only say one daughter of Eve has somehow rattled me. If I had believed she would not flee, I would have killed the others and left only her, but if I had, she wouldn’t be the same woman I discovered when I stumbled upon this place.

I am fascinated by this woman, which began when she first yelled at Nevil and then pushed me when we stormed their community and trampled several plants she has tended and cared for. Her exact words to Nevil and me were….

“Mind getting your big freaking clodhoppers off my flowers so I can fix them, and next time pay attention where you’re stepping. These plants mean more to me than most people do.” She supplemented her initial remark with a barrage of insults directed at us, including quite a few dumbasses, pricks, and some damn-its for emphasis.

She is fiery, yet compassionate. Serious most times, yet funny at others. She is akin to the light that feeds my vines and the moon that revives my soul. She is an inscrutable enigma I must figure out.

This daughter of Eve loves the mortals she has taken the role of caring for. She also thanks my father for providing for them. Yet it is how she treats the plants I control I find most appealing. There is only one thing I would change if I could: the time she spends with….

“Avalon. Come here. We have another plant budding.”

The lamb’s mouthy ambivalence regarding me and my task may taint Sienna. Something I am not fond of happening.

“Sin, I need your help this afternoon. Don’t forget.”

I also wish her mother would stop calling her Sin. This daughter of Eve is far from sinful. She is graceful and pure, Much closer to the celestial beings these mortals pray to than the one our father cast aside.

Mostly, I hate she so easily evokes these conflicting emotions within me.

The holiday these mortals celebrate is almost as ridiculous as the one called Cammie. Yet there they sit, drinking ale and wearing green. They all believe it’s a day in which they honor a false saint. A St. Patrick. I can assure them no saint with this moniker exists. Based on what I overheard the lamb saying, this day was celebrated in what would have been mid-way through the third month of their new year.
