CHAPTER FIVE: CONSPIRACIES AND SCHEMES

Do you remember the other villain of this tale? Not Eve-we’ll get back to her in a moment. A little while back, Greg popped out of hiding. Eve knew a few things; so did he. How did either of them come across anything? Well, the lovely little Princess did a little snooping. She popped her ears into the bedroom whenever Ethan snuck off, saying he had to talk to some investors. But who in their right mind would tell an investor ‘I miss you’? ‘I can’t wait to see you?’. Ha ha, yeah right, sweetheart. Nice try. She smiled to herself as everything unfolded, right before her very eyes. Of course her darling Prince Whitefield was in love with someone else, and it sure the hell wasn’t with one of his business partners.

So what did Eve do with that precious knowledge? Well, what do kids do whenever they get their hands on important, juicy secrets? They can’t wait to share it! Eve didn’t know too much about Greg, other than he was Rick’s cousin and hated Rick into a devastatingly bloody oblivion. So why wouldn’t he be the perfect one to share the secret with? Like kids giggling over a game of telephone, the Princess and the Shadow Jester shared the gloriously delicious information: Prince Whitefield was in love with someone else! Was pining after someone else! Absolutely delicious (‘delicious’ being Eve’s favorite word, for the record). Were either of them disgusted by Ethan’s beloved being a man? Not at all. But-

Rick’s family would be. The King and Queen weren’t going to be too happy about it, either. But of course the Princess wouldn’t unravel (her part in) the empire! Not unless Ethan deprived her of everything she deserved. Everything she worked so hard for! Being beautiful and deceitful took a lot out of a Princess. “You mean you’re going to let that little maggot cling to your guy?” Greg asked in horror, eyes widened in the wake of a devastatingly delicious revelation. “You don’t mind my fruit of a cousin holding onto your fiancée?”

“Not at all,” the graceful, virtuous beauty said with a wave of her hand. “I’ve already told him-I don’t care if my darling Ethan-poo is bonging a man, another woman or a dog. He can do whatever he wants. But the moment he even thinks of cutting off my well-deserved goods, well, I’ll be more than happy to make his life a living Hell. While I’m at it, I’ll gladly make his beloved’s life a living Hell too. Two for one, don’t you think that would be a deliciously devilish idea?”

Greg nodded in agreement. Any plan that involved wiping a certain disgusting fruit off the face of the earth was all right by him. “Get back to me whenever that happens,” the Johnson told her, referring to her plans if Ethan chose to cut her off from the empire. “I’ll gladly lend you a helping hand. Can’t wait to see that guy crumble.
