Notch the ends of the arrows for the bowstring. Cut or file the notch without splitting it. Fletching (fixing feathers to the notched arrow end) increases the arrow's flight trajectory, but is not required on a field-expedient arrow.

ARROW POINTS

To craft an arrow point, use the same directions from below for making a stone knife blade. Flint, chert and shell-type stones are best to use for arrow points. You can also create an efficient arrow point using broken glass or bone if you’re in a pinch.

You can also sharpen and fire harden the end of the pointed arrow shaft. To fire harden wood, hold it over hot coals, being careful not to burn or singe the wood.
