“Leen! Wiki!” Sheed interrupted Otto to ask, “Can you set your phones up side by side for proper dramatization?”

The girls shrugged and propped their phones on Wiki’s headboard as requested, which shifted the screen orientation and gave the odd impression that Otto and Sheed were standing beside each other as they would in real-life Logan County.

Then, Otto started the most bonkers story the girls had ever heard. “Like I was saying, last summer, on the last day, I kinda sorta goofed up.”

Sheed leaned into his screen. “He was salty because you two had more Keys to the City than us, and he wished we had more time to get more keys, and this dude who wasn’t a dude tricked Otto into freezing time!”

Otto, tight-lipped and staring, breathed really hard, annoyed breaths. “There was nothing dramatic about that. If you’re just going to blurt it . . .”

Sheed picked his hair. “Sorry, sorry. Go on.”

Otto said, “When I froze time—”

“You gonna tell them about the time traveler? And the Clock Watchers? And the Missed Opportunity? And the Time Sucks?”

Otto shouted, “I cannot orate under these conditions, Sheed!”

“Sorry, sorry. Go on.”

Wiki shot a look at Leen, her lips curled in a what is this? expression that Leen could only shrug off.

Sheed finally allowed Otto to get to it. He told of a being named Mr. Flux, who tricked Otto into freezing time with a magic camera, an act that drew the attention of a time traveler from the future named TimeStar and unleashed a race of people called Clock Watchers from a parallel dimension. While none of them were strangers to the weirdly improbable happenings in Logan County, this tale was shaping up to be quite a bit weirder than their usual Logan County shenanigans.
