2.3 Experiment Design

The cue type was varied as a within-subjects variable at three levels. In the cue-free condition, there were no pictures as a cue in the retrieval task. In the key-cue condition, the picture cues were selected by experimenters from the scene closely related to task completion. In the random-cue condition, picture cues were captured automatically by computer at a fixed time interval.
