Fion to Vallorandyl

A telling in Vallorandyl.

The teller is Emries von Cadst, Duke of Ylstgaar, Adjutant to the Fion Throne, and Marshal of the Western Front.

The witness is Vermillies Sidtch, Lord Regent of Ravinica, and Absolver General.

The telling is the patience with which I accommodate your excuses and your lack of insight, Vermillies. If the stranger’s account is true, I see no reason to believe the prince was too well hidden. Eluthienn must have been at Grindlepeake some time to convince Pent of the alliance, and to await the arrival of the Sorel Tan and Fal’Hannians. For your benefit, I will keep this oversight from the emperor. And like your excuses, your opinions are of little value to either of us. Your spies failed to find the prince when he was under your very nose, Vermillies, so you will excuse me if I do not trust what you are certain of knowing.

Whether it is the vampire or some other entity, a force weakens Formaria; our informant’s information, although limited, corroborates this. The pact between Eluthienn and Formaria, and the Church’s planned betrayal, tells me one thing: The stranger wishes us to believe Formaria remains an ally, therefore providing no motive for us to conduct a preemptive invasion: a story it would have us believe because Formaria is so under strength – and so, as the Ecclessius itself admits, it cannot afford a war with a combined Ravinica and Fiondagaard. My guess is, the Church did not plan to betray Eluthienn at all – they only wish us to believe so, for it is becoming clear this stranger has been sent by them. And while the premise resting upon the Leonette bloodline and a Lord of the Aeturnum is grandiose, it is not necessarily untrue. In Fion, such myths are less fable and more warning and so are not as quickly dismissed.

What is clearly true, though, beyond any doubt, is Formaria knows Ravinica will soon be assimilated within the Fiondagaardian Empire. An outcome we knew would happen with the prince’s escape – one we expected. But if the Formarian leadership knows, such rumours will spread and act as kindling among Ravinica’s royal houses.

You can expect fires, Vermillies. Make sure you put them out. If not, your future truly is doomed. The teller is Emries von Cadst. The witness is Vermillies Sidtch, Lord Regent, and no others.
