I would like to thank you for taking the time to sit back, relax and read from my tales. Hopefully at least one chapter (if not a few) was able to help you see things a bit different in this food space and perhaps even nudge you in the right direction when it comes to making a last-minute decision to be part of something different. I may not be the type of man who likes to get in the kitchen and cook an amazing meal but I sure love to travel and talk about some of the amazing meals I have had. Now, let me tell you about a few of my friends who I like to eat with.

Now, when it comes to food, I will travel where necessary to get my hungry on. But my love for a great bite started with my own mother’s cooking. This woman would work all day, get home in time to both check my homework, and of course cook up a new dish for me each night. Now I will admit, I was never one for leftovers and so my mother would literally cook something new each night. Of course, there were those occasions when I had no other choice but to eat leftovers, but they were far and few between.

My favorite dish growing up was basic−hot dogs, beans and bacon. You are probably looking at that a bit differently, but it is the truth. My father would pick me up on weekends for his time with me, even though he was dating a woman at the time. Instantaneously, I fell in love with hot dogs, beans and bacon, and when I was back with my mother that would be my go-to requested meal. I grew up a Jehovah’s Witness and so my weeks determined the meals:

Monday—(Pasta) We did not have service on Mondays and so there was a bit more time to sit, talk and watch TV while my mother would whip up various pasta dishes.

Tuesday—(Hot Dogs Beans & Bacon) Something quick for we had service from 7:00—9:00 p.m. and so she had enough time to get home from work, whip that up for me and then iron our clothes for the Kingdom Hall that night.

Wednesday—(Pork Chops and Wild Rice) Now Mom would hook up some MEAN pork chops, seasoned just right. They had a bit of a tougher bite to them, but the way she would season those chops made my mouth water just thinking about them.

Thursday—(Mock Spaghetti) Being that we had Bite Study on this night from 7:00—8:00 p.m., she had enough time to hook up a faster version of spaghetti with some ground beef mixed in. But all the same, I would hook it up with a bit of sugar and Kool-Aid on the side to wash it down, and I was a happy camper.

Friday—(Take Out) After a week of cooking, my mother would want to ease into the well-deserved weekend, and so at times she would order some pizza.
